I’ve finally going again on comics. Picked the worst time be makin’ comics again. Moving next week, so part of the night was spent packing things up, tossing some garbage away, and comics.
Course Spring Con is a month away, and I want to get some work done by them. I’m hoping the very formulaic 4-panel narrative speeds along the process, and that the new material lends itself to a more vignette feel. Hopefully will have two new short comics come spring con and some illustrations.
We’ll see. This is what i did tonight. I like it a lot. It’s first page of a project i’m calling Princess Goblin.

The Iron Sea RPG
For fun, i’ve been developing an IRON SEA role playing game, based in the comic world i’ve been creating.
The comic was kind of delayed because of this project, and the fact that my world and the story weren’t feeling fleshed out enough. I’ve gone back in and started reworking the story a bit, and fleshing out the people and races, and using a role playing game system has been incredibly useful at fleshing out the different people and places one would encounter across the archipelago.
The system I designed is based off the DRESDEN FILES rules, particularly the rolls, dice, and their “Aspect” system, a little bit of MASS EFFECT with it’s simplified skills and powers and a bit of my own inspiration with the stat system. I think it has really helped me ground the world in some new rules, and even spawned some new ideas, particularly (and appropriately given the verbage) the Meridians, the fish-humans of the world. I knew the least about them going into this project and now I know them really well, I feel, and am ready to tackle them in the comics.
The new comics should start up late fall or come winter. I will be going to Stumptown in April, and intend to have a big comic, some minis, an art book, and potentially a role-playing book for show, or for sale. We shall see. That is the new goal.
